Nto (children of) Annang describes the people and language spoken by the the people in the greater Abak and Ikot Ekpene areas of Akwa Ibom State in the southeastren region of Nigeria, West Africa. Nto Annang Foundation USA Inc. (NAF) is a socio-cultural organization of Annang people in the United States of Americas. The national 501c3 non-profit organization was incorporated in 1991 and has 13 chapters throughout USA. The NAF Baltimore/Washington DC (BAWA) Chapter Inc. was incorporated in 2006 as a 501c3 non-profit organization. NAF’s mission is to:

•    Foster unity and understanding between Annang people and other ethnic groups;

•    Promote Annang culture in the United States and in Nigeria;

•    Provide educational scholarships and support to Annang and other students; and

•    Support programs that improve the quality of life for Annang people and others.

 

Each chapter conducts projects that fulfills the mission of NAF. The BAWA chapter is focus on promoting the Annang culture in Maryland and Washington DC, providing college scholarships to Annang students and mentoring them, supporting primary schools and orphanages with educational supplies, and promoting entrepreneurship in Annang land.
